Senate Law and Justice Committee to Hold Second Senate Bill 1182 Hearing

PA Senate SealEarlier today, Senator McIlhinney announced that the PA Senate Law and Justice Committee will be hosting a second hearing on Senators Folmer and Leach’s medical marijuana bill SB1182. Testimony from the first hearing was streamed online and is still available to watch. The second hearing will be June 10th at 10:00AM. The exact room is still to be determined, but it will be in the Capitol building again. The committee will hear testimony from patients, medical professionals, advocates, and scientific researchers, and will also be to discuss some administrative changes (nothing that would affect the substance of the bill though).

This post will be updated with the link when we find out if this will be streamed online again. With movement on this bill now within sights, it is entirely possible that before the end of the year we could see this bill pass in the Senate. Senator Folmer is confident that we have well over the 26 votes necessary to pass it.

Governor Corbett announced a plan for a CBD-only test program for kids with specific types of epilepsy. PhillyNORML is glad that the Governor is starting to come around on this issue. Parents of the kids with epilepsy, all the hardworking PA Advocates, PhillyNORML, Senators Folmer and Leach, and even Senate leaders are seeing – and stating – the need for the comprehensive whole-plant medical marijuana program that SB1182 will create. We intend to see this through.

Once more, the hearing information is:

June 10th
10:00 AM
State Capitol Building, Harrisburg PA
Room TBA
