Getting Started with your New Chapter
Regular meetings are essential to any organization so they are a good initial goal. You will find that as you hold these meetings people will eventually file in. The more people that you have filing in, the more your collective energy and enthausium will build and something will get accomplished. PhillyNORML holds two meetings a month on the first and third Mondays. We feel that is the best for us because we get to meet regularly and occasionally we get a week off.
It is also recommended to hold ordered meetings. If you are a student organization then you can see this first hand at your student government meetings. Otherwise you should have a look at Robert's Rules of Order which is a comprehensive method of running meetings for speed and efficiency.
From there you can take it however you'd like. If you are a student organization perhaps you'd like to have your student government pass a resolution againt campus drug laws. If you are more of a municipal/county organization then planning a regular action is a good place to start. PhillyNORML started with a candelight vigil because it was easy to organize and sent a very positive message.
