The November issue (35th Anniversary) also mentions Tom Forcade in an article written by R. Keith Stroup,Esq. , NORML Founder and Legal Counsel. Kenneth Gary Goodson, A.k.A. Tom Forcade, gave money when NORML first started and would have turned 64 this year. An intersting read as well by the NORML Founder. In one instance Mr. Stroup speaks of picking up cash for NORML from "Tom", with lbs. of weed in the room.LOL....
I believe Dr Grinspoon got involved in Marijuana due to his Son's illness. I used to be Active for my Dad, now I'm active because of chronic pain. Dr. Grinspoons writings on Marijuana are well Known in the Medical community. The article mentions the the patenting of a marijuana based medicine such as Sativex spray (sold in Britain and parts of Spain) and related medicine(s) by the U.S. Govt. who recieved a patent, issued to HHS in 2003, citing numerous Medical ailments for which it would help. This clearly contradicts the Govt's position of Marijuana having "No Medical Benefit". Additionally, It is bizarre that the penalty for 49 kilo's (107.8 Lbs.) is the same as for growing 49 plants; 5 years Prison and up to a $250,000 Fine. It is a very rare plant that produces 2.2 Lbs. dry weight! (Never cultivate more than 49 plants!!!!) Apparently Marijuana won't be rescheduled until the Gov't and Big Pharma. is able to make a buck off it?
I'm hoping the ACLU takes this up and challenges the Govt assertions which keep it at Schedule I status. I urge you to take a look at Dr.Grinspoons's website.
I have written him, asking if he would submit a letter of support at the upcoming Hearing in the Phila. Convention Center.
