Went to the doctor today due to the anxiety I have due to recent cancer diagnosis. After I explained my situation they wanted me to start Lexipro.  I told them that since my diagnosis I had self medicated and that worked great but a couple of weeks ago I stopped self medicating and the anxiety is several times worse now that some cancer symptoms have surfaced. I asked my new psychiatrist what they thought about smoking pot rather than jump on some pharma band wagon.  She said that there wasn't enough research on marijuana for her to give an educated opinion. All I could do is shake my head. I guess pot hasn't been around long enough to do the proper tests!!!!!! To me this is criminal on the part of the FDA. I know how my body and mind react to smoking and I don't know how ,and either does my doctor, my body and mind will react to this pill. There is a two to three week period before I should feel the effects. To someone in my condition that is an eternity. All I know is that this ignorance can not last. We will have reform at some point its just a matter of how many people have to suffer in the meantime.
On a similar topic I have received some positive feedback from a couple of congressmen that I sent letters to about HN 1393.
thanks to everyone who is fighting the good fight- Mike

I have provided some (9) websites related to Medical Marijuana which I hope would be useful to you and others. My psychologist is a pain specialist who has positve information on Med. Marijuana. I hope to get some information from him during my next visit, which I will post, and may help you as well. My Father died from inoperable Lung Cancer in 1993. I feel for you and wish you the best. Hang in there! You may want to search if Sativa or Indica Marijuana is best for your condition. If the Law is not passed in PA you may want to consider moving to a State that allows medical use of Marijuana, as your life is at stake. I feel your frustration and will attempt to get more info. A.S.A.P.

Here is a quick search off of treatingyourself.
http://www.cancerlinksusa.com/chemo/marijuana_use_in_cancer.asp
There are specific cancers listed. I see it offers support and advice on cancers. I haven't had the oppurtunity to see what info. they provide. I know from my Father's Cancer that nutrition is very important. Marijuana is more of a medicine Shotgun, rather than the "Silver Bullet" of prescribed Med.'s.
The various compounds present in marijuana effect different problems. THC , Cannabinoids,Terpenes,CBD's, etc. all act to help in various ways. This is why I suggested seeing if Sativa (more of an up weed) or Indica (more of a narcotic effect) is better suited to your ailments.
It may be that Sativa's in the A.M. and Indica at night help you better. However you may not have that ability to get choosy about what you can get to treat yourself. Remember to keep your food intake up, use Ensure (cans) if you have to.... Chocolate tastes better I think. I'll post some more Medical info about how marijuana works in the body as explained from a book I have. At least you'll have more info. than your Dr. seems capable of giving you. Hang in there. People care, and you are in good company here.
