Stop Violence Legalize Drugs!!!!

« on: May 13, 2009, 03:33:24 AM »

Are you aware that for the past 34 years our government has been suppressing the fact that cannabinoids found in marijuana inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells, including lung, breast, skin and brain? Well if you didn't know, now is the time to get informed! The first documented study was held in 1974 at the Medical College of Virginia. This was first featured in the August 18, 1974 Washington Post newspaper. This stated and I quote "THC slowed the growth of lung cancers, breast cancers and a virus-induced leukemia in laboratory mice, and prolonged their lives by as much as 36 percent." WOW!! I wonder haw many families would have easily turned to pot if they were presented with this information? According to WikiAnswers 547,000 people die a year in the US from cancer, that is 1,500 people a day! The second leading cause of death in America! Marijuana is the closest thing to a cure-all this world has and the pharmaceutical industry and Drug Czar know this. Many of the big time pharmaceutical companies sold THC containing hemp oil in the 1800's through the early 1900's, and quickly realized it was something they couldn't patent. So to make a long story short our government made it illegal. If marijuana can treat, prevent, or even cure something as devastating as cancer why not reopen the doors to researching this drug and making it available to sick Americans or anyone else who can benefit from its use. This should be our primary focus in the race for the cure, considering the results!

I vaguely remember reading a story about researchers in Spain, in 1972 I think, who did similar research finding that THC was anti-tumoral. Once medical marijuana is legalized, research should be able to go forward at a faster pace.
