I wasn't sure if you wanted to call it Pittsburgh NORML or if you had any other preference. Let me know and I'll change it. Welcome to the boards though and feel free to post in any of the other sections with news or general discussion.  Don't be shy because as we all know, "You've got a friend in Pennsylvania".  beer

We are actually going to be Western Pennsylvania NORML.  We are based near Pittsburgh, in Beaver County.  We are getting started with members from the northern suburbs, with members from the city all the way up through Butler and Slippery Rock.  I would like to find interested people and groups from any towns and/or colleges on this side of the state.

Hi everyone this is the very first time I have ever posted on a blog.  This site came to me from the Marijuana Policy Project after the American Medical Association announced it's intention to consider making marijuana legal for medical purposes, as well as the announcement of the first public hearings on HB 1393.  I am posting on this blog as I understand there is now a Western Pennsylvania Chapter of NORML.  Does anyone know if there will be mass transportation from the Pittsburgh area for the December 2, 2009 public hearing in Harrisburg.  I have fibromyalgia and degenerative joint/disc disease which causes chronic daily pain.  I just had a spinal fusion and get around with the help of a service dog and can't imagine driving to Harrisburg by myself.  I have been a professional social worker all of my life and understand they are looking for people to share their experiences in a professional manor on December 2nd.  I am interested in doing so, with an MSW and 12 years experience in presenting court cases on behalf of county government.  I am dedicated to educating politicians both on a personal and professional basis, as I currently will not use marijuana unless it is legalized, as I cannot risk my housing or professional possibilities if arrested.  I am desperate to get this bill passed and will talk to anyone who will listen.   gthumb

Wellness to all,

Especially if you use it to help you in a ways. for me i use it for anxiety and depression but had to recently give it up do to legal maters with my child.

Im new to this. I joined today in hope of getting a better understanding of what is being done with the reform of laws in concern with marijuana and its medical purposes. I would also like to be informed of the things I could do in my community to help out. I live in McKeesport which is just outside the city of Pittsburgh. I am in the culinary/hospitality business, and graduated from PCI (pennsylvania culinary institute). I am currently attempting to further my education in small business management. My dream is to one day legally own my own coffee/marijuana shop. I welcome all opinions about my dream, and would love to hear your ideas and suggestions of what I need to do for a successful business. Feel free to share your dreams with me as well, and I may be able to give some advice.   gthumb

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum!  I live 15min outside of Pittsburgh.  I have been waiting forever for the legalization of medicinal pot .  I have fibromyalgia and I live in such pain from morning til night.  My dr though caring can only do so much, she has to answer to the DEA!  She has me on the useless Tramadol....which I am TRYING to come off of, this drug does nothing but give you MORE problems.  She also gives me Hydrocodone, but because she answers to the DEA she cannot give me what I would need.  I get 45 pills for a month and that is nothing!  I have NEVER smoked weed.......I was always one to walk the straight and narrow, but now I'm wondering what to do IF this bill doesn't pass.

Funny when I was in school all my friends did weed but not me.....now that Im thinking about it I don't know 1 person who has access to it lol  Our Govenor doesn't seem like he will even pass it once it hits his desk.  But my question is don't all these politicians speak for US?  And WE the PEOPLE ALL want it or NEED it!  How can they go against what the people want???  They need to hold a Public referandom (sp).  Thanks for all that you guys do!
