Finally did it, and went on vacation! And all I have to say is holy freakin' wow. Jamaica is everything you hoped for and more, and all the rumors you heard were absolutely 100% true. Granted, like any other tourist location, you did need to be wary of where you went, and any timer you bought ANYTHING from any vendor, the rest would swarm you trying to sell you everything under the sun. So for goodness sake, buy your trinkets and souvenirs discreetly, and be prepared to occasionally have to use a firm, "No thanks," because the hard sell is still alive and well in Jamaica, haha.  The only real drawback is that while there are so many awesome things to be had on the island (and lots of it is holy-freaking-wow quality or better), all of it has to stay on the island. On my last day, I gave everything I had left to some dude that I overheard booking the "bob Marley tour" and he looked happier than a pig in poop!

Once again, I seriously can't stress "don't bring anything back" enough. Pack only what you need, and if you have to put stuff in bags, make sure the bags are clear. The customs guy literally went through every bag that wasn't clear, unfolded and inspected each and every pocket of every item of clothing, and took apart literally every item in my possession. The customs guy I went through must have been having a bad day or something. And he seriously looked genuinely upset when he realized I wasn't stupid enough to bring anything back. I mean I know people try because you hear about people getting busted for it, but- come on, for us slightly less crazy people, we don't do silly sh!t like trying to bring back ANYTHING from Jamaica.

Other people did just get waived through, so I'm not sure if they select certain people randomly just to bust balls. I don't have a record that I am aware of, and I don't really look like a hippie, or have dreads nor did I have anything else that would indicate I did anything other than relax on vacation.

So keep that in mind when you go to beautiful Jamaica! Party hearty, do whatever the hell you want (within reason) while you are there but don't bring anything back that you wouldn't want Mr(s). Customs Officer to see, because seriously some of these guys have absolutely no sense of humor. I mean I thought the other customs guy was hilarious (there were two standing at the booth), but the one who was searching me needs to smile more or take life slightly less seriously. Quite literally it seemed as if he were really P.O.'d at me the whole time and genuinely surprised and upset that there was no valid reason to  arrest me. So whatever you do in Jamaica, STAYS IN JAMAICA!

Sounds like a good time, man. I remember coming through customs on the way back from the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam in 2002, they took all my stuff apart too. It was kinda funny, they had to know the plane or something because as soon as we got back they corralled the whole plane of us for screening. I've thought about Jamaica and might consider the trip, it looks pretty fun and I know a few ppl who have been.

Yeah, I would certainly give two thumbs up to going. I want to go back again ASAP, and I'm certainly going to go for longer next time. I would like a much more "off the beaten path" (but still on the beach) resort next time. I think it would be fun to go somewhere that is 100% ganja friendly. Pretty much every resort tolerates discrete smoking from your balcony and/or the beach, but I've learned of a few where smoking is, "no problem."   rasta2 rasta2 rasta2 bong bong bong joint joint joint You'll seriously have a tough time coming back. I've been thinking about going back ever since I got on the plane to come home!

Sounds like you had a great time, Jamaicas somewhere I've always wanted to go. Might go this summer if I can afford it. Smoking fat spliffs while soaking up some rays on the beach sounds like a really good time!

Dogs dont smell seeds, well the dog that sat at my feet in Miami, with the nice customs lady, did not smell the seeds, in my pocket, 18 inches from him. It was one of those oh shit moments, to be honest.

I've heard that as well, especially if you clean them appropriately. Regardless, I'd be ready to dump a load in my pants tho if the dog was that close. If the seeds were legit lambsbread seeds, I'd almost consider risking it tho, haha!

I heard some stories as well, but I certainly didn't have any real problems there. Some of the vendors will definitely try to hassle the shit out of you IF YOU LET THEM, a strong "NO," is usually sufficient, but if all else fails, just say, "BACKAFF, MON!" And that's more than enough to get them to leave you alone. As long as you don't go around flashing big wads of cash, or wearing a Rolex, you'll be fine. Oh, and stay the hell out of Kingston ya whiteys!

It's an island. Your "legit lambsbread" ceased to exist the second someone started growing a few indica plants on it.

I know! A considerable amount of time was spent trying to locate it! Sativas in general are VERY rare on the island anymore. Time and time again when I asked, all I heard was Indica or hybrid! No real pure sativas, WTF? The reason it has changes is b/c the Jamaicans harvest at least twice as much (in some cases more) with the hybrids and indicas b/c they can have MULTIPLE harvests, whereas the sativas will take 5+  blink months to finish!

If it's out there, I'll find it! :) I'd even settle for some hybridization if its absolutely 100% legit extinct

There were likely some lambsbreath genes in the indica they first planted too, genetic contamination works both ways.  However by now it's about as dominant as neanderthal genes in us.  Hell, most in Jamaca are probably buying their seed stock from europe like everyone else.  Tourist $$$!

A year or two back, I was trying to explain to the kids here why planting your bag seed everywhere just to give a middle finger to johnny law was a famously retarded idea for similar reasons.  Landraces are far more valuable than your shits and giggles.
