anybody watching ?
I could deal with the jelly cam, but the audio level is far too low for me to understand anything being said.

Lol I think I remember posting a news article about the cookies on the airplane. I sure hope it came up as a point a levity and not a serious discussion.

Well, what happened and what was said? The pros should have far outweighed the cons.

Yes I watched it, and only two questions, did you try to convince them that this is worth it, in their eyes to legalize MM? and 2 where do we go now with this, I mean like whats next after this hearing... do we go to another hearing, do we knock on the door of those who say nay, and try to convince them to vote yes? do we send in the bill to the house and pray to god that it passes? or do we sit on out butts getting names on a petition that the speaker is just going to say "so what... we can get a list of people who doesn't want MM passed"
I mean I don't to bust your buzz, but are we really going to wait another 9 months for another hearing...?
Shit,I send out weekly (or as weekly as I can) to my house and state reps, and monthly to the people higher then them ...
Bottom Line: if we don't get it passed soon were going to end up waiting another few years before its gets passed ... so mail your reps, Push to get it passed ASAP!

There are only two reasons the bill has not yet moved forth to a committee vote.
1) They are convinced that they do not have the votes to pass it.
2) They have the votes to pass it, but don't particularly want to and are just pandering.
In any case with the nationalized election coming up this fall, the chances of any marijuana legislation moving at that time is non-existent. I think we'll be waiting a bit longer than 9 months. The bill will need to be re-introduced next session and the process starts all over again.
If you really want the bill to move forward your individual legislator has really little control. You need to be sending letters to and calling the following individual. He's the chairman of the committee. He could schedule a vote tomorrow if he so had the inclination.

One would think with all the race considerations surrounding cannabis period, this person bringing it up for a vote would be a no brainer. Is fear the reason, the political liability in Philly is minimal with the African-American community and they are damn tired of all the crack killings. DC has it, now get it in Philly.

He is 88 years old and finally retiring this year according to his bio.
Meaning not only is he set in his ways, he was raised at a time in history that you would have some difficulty relating to.

Well, my grandmother, who, if she was still alive, would be nearly 98, smoked cannabis in the Roaring 20s. Her thoughts in the 60s was what's the big deal! And cannabis has been a part of the African-American community for a long time. Let us not forget the racist reasons for outlawing cannabis. Black men used it to have their way with white women. Time for all to get into the 21st Century.

OK, I'm only just starting to get up to speed on this and related topics (due primarily to my own need for MMJ, post-FDA ban of Darvocet and related drugs).
Is there any chance that a hearing will be scheduled for 2011?
I'm in the central part of the state, which is pretty sparsely populated and very conservative. Not sure how people up here feel about this issue, although they're certainly up to their ears in hard drug problems (primarily heroin, crack and crank).
I wonder if there's anyone here who has any contact with people from the central part of the state - and what the chances might be of a potential chapter that's outside of the 2 major cities? Philly and Pittsburgh need some company, I think?

Once the bills are reintroduced in early February and assigned to a committee we'll have a better idea when a vote will be scheduled.
