Today there will be a 'Free Marc Emery' Rally starting at Broad/South at 3 pm. (I'll be the deaf dude with the 'Free Marc Emery!' protest sign.)
We don't have a permit and I'm not sure how many people will be showing up, but we will not have a police escort like we did on the first of May; as such, keep to the sidewalks to avoid pig confrontation, but if need be I will be walking down South St. alone starting at 4:20 pm. This is about nothing more than publicly voicing our displeasure that the US federal government plans to spend thousands of dollars over the course of the next 5 years to imprison a Canadian who for the last 10 peacefully paid his taxes claiming his employment was 'cannabis seed vendor,' a crime for which the Canadian government didn't even deem threatening enough to lock him up, and if they had would only be a sentence of 30 days.
Yet when the DEA infiltrated in 2005 and entrapped him, the Canadian government gave in their sovereignty and agreed to ship Marc to the US to sit in prison for 5 years.
Sorry for the short notice, I hope many more of you are aware of this because of the Free Marc Emery rally page available athttp://cannabisculture.com/v2/content/2010/05/15/Worldwide-Rally-Free-Marc-Emery-Saturday-May-22
