| Mike Whiter is a medically retired United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant. After an 11 year career in the Marines, Mike was forced into retirement due to an injury sustained in Iraq. After leaving the Marines in 2006, he was prescribed 36 different medications through the Department of Veterans Affairs health system. After becoming addicted to opiates, benzodiazepines and anti-depressants, he decided enough was enough and in May of 2012, after not smoking marijuana for 20 plus years, quit taking pills and started using marijuana to combat PTSD symptoms and chronic pain. Since making that decision, Mike has been tirelessly advocating for fellow veterans and other sufferers of PTSD, and the use of marijuana as an alternative treatment for PTSD. Mike also founded and runs Pennsylvania Veterans for Marijuana Legalization. | ![]() |
